2020 Sangiovese - Sonoma Mountains
Location: Alpicella Vineyard, Hood Mountain, Sonoma County
This premiere organic vineyard is located above the fog line at 1800ft on the crest of Sonoma’s Hood Mountain. The soils are volcanic, and artesian mineral springs are used for minimal irrigation. This Brunello clone sangiovese site is currently in regeneration mode after the wildfires ripped through the property two days after harvest in 2020.
Winemaking - Whole berry fermentation in 4 open top barrels using native yeast. Aged in neutral French oak barrels for 14 months.
Production - 2 Barrels, 50 Cases. One time production.
Tasting Notes – Gorgeous aromas of blackberry, black cherry, ripe raspberry, dark chocolate, and violet play beautifully together on the nose. Perfectly balanced on the palate with plush tannins and lingering acidity.
