2023 Sparkling Chenin Blanc - Wine Club Only
Alder Springs Vineyard | Mendocino County
Legacy.
From the far reaches of northern Mendocino County, Alder Springs Vineyard sits on a 6,000-acre ranch surrounded by forest, wild rivers, and redwoods. Just 12 miles from the Pacific, this site is as remote as it is revered—an ecological gem and one of California’s most exciting places to grow grapes. With elevations climbing to 4,000 feet and low-vigor soils kissed by coastal breezes, it’s an ideal setting for sparkling wine with structure, elegance, and energy.
Inspiration.
Years of crafting pét-nat laid the foundation, but this vintage marks a bold step forward: our first traditional method (méthode champenoise) sparkling Chenin Blanc. Inspired by our time at Black Estate in New Zealand and Kim’s family legacy of growing CB, this wine is both a tribute and an evolution. It’s built with intention—from site selection to zero dosage—and reflects our belief that the best wines come from working in harmony with nature.
The Wine.
Dry, zippy, and sophisticated, this wine opens with notes of Meyer lemon, green apple, and fresh brioche. The bubbles are fine and persistent, lifting the mineral core and amplifying the wine’s crisp, clean energy. An elegant companion for celebrations of every kind.
Authenticity.
Hand-harvested early for brightness and natural acidity
Gently pressed and fermented with native yeast in stainless steel
Bottled for traditional method secondary fermentation in bottle
Riddled and aged 6 months sur lie before disgorgement
Zero dosage, unfiltered, unfined, no SO₂ added
This is sparkling wine as it should be—honest, vibrant, and alive.
