2023 Chenin Blanc
Alder Springs Vineyard | Mendocino County
Legacy.
Sourced from the iconic Alder Springs Vineyard, this Chenin Blanc hails from a remote, forest-wrapped property just inland from the Mendocino coast. Located 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean and 3 miles from the Redwood Highway, Alder Springs is a beacon of regenerative and organic farming—exactly the kind of legacy site we dream of working with. Originally developed by Stuart Bewley in the late 1980s, the vineyard has earned its reputation as one of the premier growing sites in Northern California.
Inspiration.
Chenin Blanc stole our hearts in New Zealand—specifically at Black Estate in North Canterbury—where its purity, energy, and mineral elegance showed us what was possible. That inspiration, paired with Kim’s family stories of Grandpa Ed’s Chenin grown on the ranch, set us on a mission to craft our own soulful expression. Alder Springs, tucked in the forest and farmed with care, gave us everything we needed to bring it to life.
The Wine.
A wild, floral perfume of white and yellow blossoms leads the way. On the palate, layers of white peach, citrus, and wet stone unfold with grace. This is a mineral-driven Chenin, light on its feet yet structured and complete—built for moments of reflection, or for pairing with anything from oysters to roast chicken.
Authenticity.
Hand-harvested and picked early to preserve natural acidity
Gentle pressing and native fermentation in stainless steel
Full malolactic conversion and 12 months aging on lees in neutral T6 French oak barrels
Bottled unfined, unfiltered, with minimal SO₂
Pure. Precise. Unapologetically alive.
